Ingredients:cucumber-pepper-rasam

Mangalore Cucumber / Mangalore Sautekayi –  1

Tur Dal – 1/4 cup

Turmeric – A pinch

Salt – As per taste

Black Pepper – 10-12

Jeera – 2 tbsp

Dry Coconut – 1/4 cup

Rava – 2 tspn

            Seasoning:

            Hing / Asafoetida – A Pinch

           Ghee – 1 tsp

            Jeera – 1/2 tsp

           Curry Leaves – 4-5

 

Method

Dry roast Pepper,jeera,dry coconut and rava for 2 minutes and grind them to fine powder.

Meanwhile, Cook the tur dal, by adding a pinch of turmeric, (for about 2 – 3 whistles) in the pressure cooker and cook the cucumber separately( as it gets cooked very fast and never boil them in the cooker as it gets mashed)

Once done, add the powdered masala and the salt, to the cooked dal and vegetable and bring it to boil.

Now, add the seasoning to the rasam and serve hot.
